Research overview

Tirzepatide is a 39-amino-acid synthetic peptide based on the GIP sequence, engineered to activate both the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the GLP-1 receptor. A C20 fatty-diacid moiety attached at Lys20 extends its circulating half-life through albumin binding.

It is supplied as a research reference standard for dual-incretin receptor pharmacology. Tirzepatide is an active pharmaceutical ingredient in approved prescription products; this material is not a drug product and is not for human or veterinary use.

Areas of published research

  • GIP and GLP-1 receptor selectivity and signaling bias
  • Incretin effects on β-cell function in vitro
  • Adiposity and energy expenditure in rodent models
  • Hepatic lipid metabolism research

The list above summarises where this compound appears in the scientific literature. It describes research activity, not properties or effects of any product sold here.

Storage and handling

  • Lyophilized vials: store at −20 °C for long-term storage, or 2–8 °C for up to several weeks. Keep sealed and protected from light.
  • Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening, so moisture does not condense on the cold powder.
  • After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8 °C and use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Add diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently; do not shake.

Documentation

Each lot is tested by an independent laboratory for purity (RP-HPLC) and identity (mass spectrometry). The certificate of analysis for your lot ships with the order; copies for any lot can be requested through the contact page with the lot number from the vial label. Read our guide on how to read a certificate of analysis.
