Semaglutide

Research overview

Semaglutide is a long-acting analog of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Structural modifications (Aib at position 8, Arg at 34, and a C18 diacid chain attached through a γGlu–OEG linker at Lys26) give it albumin binding and resistance to DPP-4 degradation.

It is supplied here as a research reference standard for receptor-binding, incretin-signaling and metabolic-model work. Semaglutide is an active pharmaceutical ingredient in approved prescription products; this material is not a drug product and is not for human or veterinary use.

Storage and handling

• Lyophilized vials: store at −20 °C for long-term storage, or 2–8 °C for up to several weeks. Keep sealed and protected from light.
• Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening, so moisture does not condense on the cold powder.
• After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8 °C and use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
• Add diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently; do not shake.
