Research overview

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It retains much of the anti-inflammatory activity of the parent hormone in cell-based assays and has been studied in rodent colitis models, where uptake by intestinal epithelial cells through the PepT1 transporter has been characterized.

Supplied as a research reference material for inflammation and mucosal-immunology studies.

Areas of published research

  • NF-κB signaling and cytokine release assays
  • Intestinal inflammation (colitis) models
  • PepT1-mediated peptide transport studies

The list above summarises where this compound appears in the scientific literature. It describes research activity, not properties or effects of any product sold here.

Storage and handling

  • Lyophilized vials: store at −20 °C for long-term storage, or 2–8 °C for up to several weeks. Keep sealed and protected from light.
  • Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening, so moisture does not condense on the cold powder.
  • After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8 °C and use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Add diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently; do not shake.

Documentation

Each lot is tested by an independent laboratory for purity (RP-HPLC) and identity (mass spectrometry). The certificate of analysis for your lot ships with the order; copies for any lot can be requested through the contact page with the lot number from the vial label. Read our guide on how to read a certificate of analysis.
