Research overview

Epitalon (epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide derived from epithalamin, a polypeptide extract of the pineal gland. Its literature, largely from the Khavinson group, includes cell-culture work on telomerase activity and telomere length and animal studies on circadian rhythm and melatonin production in aged subjects.

Supplied as a research reference material for geroscience and chronobiology studies.

Areas of published research

  • Telomerase activity in cultured cells
  • Pineal function and melatonin rhythm in aged animals
  • Gene-expression studies in aging models

The list above summarises where this compound appears in the scientific literature. It describes research activity, not properties or effects of any product sold here.

Storage and handling

  • Lyophilized vials: store at −20 °C for long-term storage, or 2–8 °C for up to several weeks. Keep sealed and protected from light.
  • Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening, so moisture does not condense on the cold powder.
  • After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8 °C and use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Add diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently; do not shake.

Documentation

Each lot is tested by an independent laboratory for purity (RP-HPLC) and identity (mass spectrometry). The certificate of analysis for your lot ships with the order; copies for any lot can be requested through the contact page with the lot number from the vial label.
